Begin by checking circuit connections for looseness or corrosion, ensuring the battery is fully charged, and inspecting the Heater fuse and blower relay in their respective locations.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. The blower unit is located in the passenger compartment above the right front footwell. Remove the right lower dash panel. Remove the three bolts and pull the ECM out of the way. To remove the blower, remove the blower unit retaining screws and lower the unit from the housing. If the motor is being replaced, transfer the fan to the new motor prior to installation. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper operation. Depending on whether you have a four-door or five-door model, remove the rear seats and either the left or right rear quarter panel trim. Five-door models have two rear blowers, one for heating and another for air-conditioning, mounted in the right rear quarter. On four-door models, disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the three blower motor mounting screws and the blower motor. On five-door models, once the rear heat unit has been removed, remove the air-mix motor, then remove all the screws of the unit cover. Flip the cover over and remove the blower fan, then flip the cover back over and remove the three blower motor mounting screws.
