Q:
How to replace spark plug on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
A:
Spark plug replacement requires a spark plug socket lined with a rubber grommet, a ratchet wrench, a wire-type feeler gauge, and a torque wrench. To replace the plugs, purchase the correct ones for your vehicle and adjust them to the proper gap. Inspect the new plugs for defects and check the electrode gaps using a wire gauge. Remove the ignition coils and blow away any dirt or foreign material. Use a special spark plug socket to remove the old plugs. Compare the old plugs to a chart to determine the engine's condition. Prior to installation, coat the spark plug threads with anti-seize compound and use a length of rubber hose to help align the plug and prevent cross-threading. Finally, tighten the plug and install the ignition coils.
