    Q:
How to remove and install the window regulator assembly in both front and rear doors on 2002 through 2006 Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Peel off the door trim panel and the plastic hood guard that keeps water out. Remove the window glass assembly. To work with electric windows, disconnect the electrical connector from the motor that controls window movement. On Avalon models, remove the regulator/motor assembly mounting fasteners: There are three nuts above the motor, one bolt under it, and one nut at the bottom of the regulator assembly. Uninstall the doorframe's body panel by pulling the equalizer arm and regulator parts through the same opening. Replace all blue arrow mark fasteners, then lube the regulator rollers and spots that rub, using fresh white grease, before reinstalling the parts. To get to the rear windows, unscrew the door trim panel, then pry off the plastic cover, and lift out the window glass. Unplug the electrical connector connected to the window regulator motor, and loosen all bolts that attach the regulator assembly to the door. The parts for the front and rear door regulators are mounted the same way as their equivalents on the previous model. Feed the equalizer bar through a simplified opener on the door frame, slide the regulator assembly out, and move it up through this hole. Put white grease on the rollers and wear spots, just like you did before taking it off.

    Q:
How to remove and install front and rear window regulator/motor assemblies on 1997 through 2001 Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by taking off the door trim panel and plastic water shield, before removing the window glass assembly, to free the front door assembly on Avalon models. When removing electric windows, unplug their electrical connection, then unscrew the bolts that secure the entire window regulator assembly. Before taking out the bolts, note where the bolt for the top roller guide sits at the back, then unfasten the bolts for the bottom roller guide and the six screws holding the regulator motor to the door. Afterward, remove the window assemblies by pulling them through the established door frame opening. Before putting the regulator back, treat the rollers and the places that wear most to move smoothly with white grease. You must start taking apart the rear door assembly: first remove the door trim panel and plastic water shield, then the window glass unit. Unplug the power wire from the window regulator motor on your power windows, then undo the screws that hold the window regulator and motor together. Both the front and rear door assemblies use this same mounting method. To take out and install the regulator unit, move the equalizer bar away and lift the regulator parts through the opening in the door frame. Afterwards, apply fresh lubrication to rollers and worn areas.
