Q:
How to replace the gear reduction starter and solenoid assembly in Toyota Land Cruiser? Posted by Customer
A:
These models are equipped with two different types of gear reduction starters. If the gear reduction starter is defective, it is recommended that the entire starter/solenoid assembly be replaced as a unit. Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: If the stereo in your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery. Remove the starter assembly from the engine. Remove the solenoid mounting bolts. Separate the solenoid from the starter body. Installation is the reverse of removal.
