Engine mounts rarely require attention, but it is crucial to replace broken or deteriorated mounts immediately to prevent damage or wear on the driveline components. To check the mounts, raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Then, position a jack under the engine oil pan and place a large wood block between the jack head and the oil pan. Carefully raise the engine just enough to remove the weight from the mounts, ensuring that the wood block is not positioned under the drain plug. Inspect the mounts for cracked, hardened, or separated rubber, as well as any relative movement between the mount plates and the engine or frame. If movement is detected, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners. For replacement, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Support the engine and remove the fasteners to detach the mount, raising the engine with an engine hoist or a floor jack and woodblock under the oil pan. It is important to remove the mount-to-engine bracket nut from the other mount, even if only one mount is being replaced. Finally, install the new mount using non-hardening thread locking compound on the bolts and nuts, ensuring they are tightened securely.
