- A:Early models of the heating and A/C system are equipped with cable actuated controls, while later models have electronic actuating controls. To remove and install the A/C switch, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Remove the center cluster trim panels and pull off the control knobs. Then, remove the mounting screws located on the front of the A/C switch. Pull the switch out slightly and disconnect the cables and electrical connectors if applicable. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. To adjust the cables, ensure the controls are set to RECIRC, COOL, and DEF. Adjust the air inlet damper control cable, air mix control cable, and mode damper control cable accordingly. For electrical checks, check the air conditioning switch and heater control switch.
