Q:
How do you check and replace the PCV valve in a Toyota T100,Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
A:
The PCV valve is typically located in the valve cover. To check it, you should have the engine idling at normal operating temperature, then pull the valve (with hose attached) from the valve cover or intake manifold. You can test for vacuum by placing your finger over the valve opening or hose. If there's no vacuum, this could indicate a plugged hose, manifold port, or the valve itself, and any plugged or deteriorated hoses should be replaced. You should also turn off the engine and shake the PCV valve, listening for a rattle. If the valve doesn't rattle, it needs to be replaced. To do this, pull it from the end of the hose, noting its installed position. When purchasing a replacement, ensure it's for your specific vehicle and engine size, and compare the old valve with the new one to ensure they match. The new valve should be pushed into the end of the hose until it's seated. Finally, inspect all rubber hoses and grommets for damage and hardening, replacing them if necessary, and press the PCV valve and hose securely into position.

Q:
How do you take the pcv out? Posted by Customer
A:
The pcv should be fairly simple to remove, you should be able to remove it by hand. All you need to do is twist and pull on it so it comes out, it will be harder to pull out if the rubber grommet is dried up and hard.
