First, loosen the wheel bolts on the back wheels of the car, then raise and support the rear with jackstands placed under the frame instead of the axle. Put blocks on the front wheels to keep the vehicle from moving off the stands, and take out the rear wheels. Place a jack at the base of the rear part of your car's axle housing. Tie up the driveshaft with a thread from below, and secure it to make room for the differential. Free the height-sensing spring from the proportioning valve of the load sensing unit on the axle. Take off all brake tubing from the axle body, then connect plugs to stop fluid from leaking. Remove the rear brake drums and brake assemblies. Take the brake cables off the brake parts and free them from where they connect to the rear axle housing. Disconnect the vent hose that goes from the axle housing, then route and hold the hose securely nearby. First, take off the shock absorbers from their seats in the springs, and next push down the shocks to move them aside. To work on T100 models, first remove the U-bolts that hold up the leaf springs, and take off the spacers, bumpers, and spring seats. Place the jack under the differential and take off the rear axle from your car. After you pull out the suspension parts, you check that all bolt screws are properly tightened. At the rear axles of T100 models, lower the vehicle so that the wheels are touching the ground first when you tighten the U-bolt nuts fully. Bleed the brakes.
