- Q:How to remove and install the Center Console Base for the 2006 Toyota Avalon?Posted by Nikhil J.A:Remove the cable wire connection from the negative end of the battery. To carefully push the top of the console panel away from the shifter using a taped screwdriver to prevent scratching, just like you would with any wooden trinket. To take the upper trim plate off the Avalon's shifter region, first remove the rear trim strip in the shifter panel, then find and uninstall two screws. First, lift the armrest and bottom cover from the rest compartment. Then unscrew both screws at the front edge and two bolts from the rear part to free the rear console box. Pull out the front screws of the rear compartment, then pull out the compartment itself. Raise the front of your console by unscrewing its bolts, and carefully lower it across the shift lever while disconnecting wiring. Then take it out.
