- Q: How to remove the Instrument Cluster, cowl reinforcement beam, and steering column for the 2006 Toyota Corolla?A: This procedure involves the stripping off of the instrument panel, the cross cowl support tube, and the steering column, with the disconnection of many electrical connectors which entails pulling on some delicate plastic tabs on different assy's which as should be appreciated is something very difficult to achieve by most home mechanics. Start off with the removal of cable connected to the negative terminal, then the removal of the driver's airbag module and the steering wheel. After that, remove glove box assembly and then remove the nut and bolt securing passenger air bag module and then unplug the electrical connectors where special attention must be made for the twin lock connectors to prevent damage of the same. Loosen and then set aside the instrument cluster bezel, the instrument cluster, the centre console trims, and the heater/AC control panel. Continue and go to the removal of the steering column, the center console, front door scuff plates, and kick panels for both sides.
