If your vehicle has power windows and door locks, cut the battery cable loose at the battery terminal, remembering to disable the lockout function if your stereo has anti-theft protection. Start by taking out the door trim panel and covering up the plastic water shield. After turning on a flashlight, see how the door-latch connecting bars are linked to the lock. Unthread them from the lock. When your car has power door locks, take the electrical plug out from the lock handle. Loosen the screws holding the unit to then easily pull the whole latch out of the door. You should put the parts back into place, but make sure to tighten all screws firmly. Find out where the control rods connect to the door handle and key lock cylinder, then cut these links off from both parts. Pull off the lock cylinder bolts after lifting off the small panel, then slide the handle off the door. Putting everything back works in just the opposite way we took it off, with bolts tightened correctly. When you take off and put back the parts of the door trim panel, you also handle and tighten the inside door handle bolts.
