A: To disconnect the Center Console Base, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Slide the seats fully forward and remove the rear screws on either side of the console. Then push the seat fully back and remove the forward retention screw(s). Remove the screws located in the bottom of the console compartment, and on late model vehicles, pull the tape box out of the console compartment to access the screws. Pull the hand brake as near to vertical as possible and remove the trim plate below the handbrake. Pull the whole console up and free. Remove the center trim panel side retention bolts, and on early models, remove the three panel screws and the strut bolt from both sides of the center panel. On later models, remove the four panel screws. Pull the ashtray out and remove the front retention screws. Pull the gear lever back and pull the trim panel out slightly to allow access to electrical connections. Once all electrical connections have been disconnected, pull the unit free. To reinstall, follow the reverse of the removal procedure.
