Toyota Echo Wiper Linkage

Toyota Echo Wiper Linkage is the mechanical connector of the windshield wiper motor to the wiper arms so that rain can be wiped away for a clear view of the road. A set of rods and pivot joints convert the rotary motion of the motor into the back-and-forth sweep which keeps the blades pressed against the Echo windshield glass. The relay is closed by a circuit once the dash switch is turned on. Further, as the motor gets energized, the Wiper Linkage drives both arms in a synchronized arc across the windshield. The dependable operation of this Wiper Linkage ensures that the driver's view is not obscured by water spray or road grime. If the Wiper Linkage gets loose or breaks, the arms will not move even though the motor still spins. Visibility will be reduced in the Toyota. Regular operation of this component enables every Echo vehicle from Toyota to maintain a clean windshield. For this reason, the Wiper Linkage is an important built-in part of the washer and wiper system.

Toyota Echo Wiper Linkage Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Refit the Wiper Linkage and Wiper Motor on Toyota Echo?
    A:
To remove the wiper motor and linkage, start by taking off the wiper arms and peeling off the rubber weatherstrip along the edge of the windscreen lower cover panel. Next, unclip and remove the central section of the cover panel, then unscrew and prise out the various screw and clip fasteners from the remaining cover panels before unclipping and removing them. Disconnect the wiring plug from the wiper motor, then remove the three bolts to lift out the wiper motor and linkage from below the windscreen. If access to another component is needed, no further dismantling is required. To separate the motor and linkage, remove the nut from the motor spindle, ensuring to recover the washer, and mark the motor spindle and mounting frame before removing the three screws to separate the wiper motor from the frame. For refitting, reverse the removal steps while ensuring the motor spindle is in the 'parked' position, aligning the previously made marks, then refit the washer and tighten the nut, secure all fasteners, and finally reattach the wiper arms.
