  Q: How can I relieve fuel pressure and perform maintenance on different types of fuel pulsation dampers?

  A: To relieve fuel pressure, unplug the negative battery terminal cable and remove the engine cover. For four-cylinder models, disconnect the fuel supply line from the Fuel Pump Pulsator and remove the damper from the Fuel Rail. Detach the fuel line sub-assembly from the Fuel Pump Pulsator and remove the damper. Use a new O-ring and tighten the Fuel Pump Pulsator bolts. For V6 models, unscrew the pulsation damper from the fuel rail, remove and discard the old sealing washers, and install new sealing washers before tightening the damper. For SL engines, drain the engine coolant, remove the upper intake manifold, withdraw the Fuel Pump Pulsator from the fuel rail, install a new O-ring onto the damper, and then reverse the removal process.
