These can be easily loosened and are required to be tightened as soon as the wheel is off the ground to minimize the chances of loosing them again, then follow the procedures of jacking up the vehicle and placing jackstands securely to support the vehicle after which the wheel can then be removed completely. Third, capture the tie-rod end and its jam nut. Next, the rack and pinion boot clamps have to be removed although the outer clamp can be removed using pliers, the inner clamp requires to be cut off or prying and this enables the boot to be slipped off. When fitting the boot, it is advisable to wrap the threads and serrations on the end of the steering rod with some tape particularly when fitting the small end of the new boot. Place the new boot into the required position over the rack and pinion and fit it into a groove of the steering rod then fit new clamps. Upon removing the above-mentioned tape you have to fix the tie-rod end. Lastly, cinch the wheel and lug nuts, adjust the vehicle and fasten the lug nuts putting adequate torque.
