He turns the steering wheel until the wheels are straight ahead and then pop the cable off the negative terminal of the battery. Pry off the small covers on either side of the steering wheel, then loosen the Torx screws that attach the airbag module to the steering wheel, without needing to remove the screws completely. Carefully remove the airbag module from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector for the module. A few tips: The steering wheel retaining nut should be removed and the relationship of the shaft to the hub should be marked for reinstallation and proper pointing of the steering wheel. Disconnect the steering wheel from the shaft with a puller - Do not hammer on the shaft. Remove the spiral cable if needed: (remove steering column covers, pull out the electrical connector, drop three claws). Ensure that the front wheels are facing straight ahead, and turn the spiral cable counterclockwise until resistance, then rotate the spiral cable clockwise about two and a half turns whilst aligning the two pointers. You will now install the wheel by matching the mark on the steering wheel hub with the mark on the shaft, slip the wheel onto the shaft, install the nut, and then torque it down. Install the electrical connectors for the airbag module, as well as any other connectors; press the locks to seat the connectors in place. Install the airbag module and tighten the Torx retaining screws to the torque, connect the negative battery cable.
