Q: How do you remove the control unit in a Toyota Prius?
A: To remove the A/C switch in a 2010 or later model, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the auxiliary 12-volt battery and performing the initialization procedure when reconnecting it. Then, carefully pry up the trim panel from around the shift lever, starting at the left side, and use a plastic trim tool or a screwdriver wrapped with tape to release each claw before pulling up the lower trim panel from the rear and sides of the shift lever. Next, remove the trim bezel from the center instrument cluster, being sure to release the 14 claws that secure this panel. Finally, carefully release the claws that retain the A/C switch, pull it out, label the wiring terminals, and disconnect the wiring from the rear. To install, simply reverse the removal process.
