To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, raise the rear of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. If there is a tank shield, remove the nut/bolts and lower the shield. On 3UR-FBE engines, remove the fuel pressure switching valve mounting bolt, and on all models, disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses. Pull back the retainer clip and disconnect the vent line. Disconnect and detach the fuel tank breather tube, filler pipe hose, and breather tube. Place a transmission jack or floor jack under the fuel tank, raising it just enough to remove the bolts securing the fuel tank bands. Carefully lower the tank to detach the
Fuel Pump/
Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness clip and disconnect the electrical connector. Also, disconnect the fuel pressure switching valve connector on 3UR-FBE engines. Finally, lower the tank completely and remove it. The installation process is the reverse of the removal steps.
