To remove the fuel injectors, first relieve the fuel pressure and detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then remove the V-bank cover. For 2006 and earlier models, take off the PCV hose, remove the assembly retaining the Vacuum Switching Valve control solenoids by taking off the two nuts and positioning the assembly aside, and then remove the air intake plenum to access the rear fuel rail. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and set the injector wire harness aside, then disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the
Fuel Pump for 2000 and earlier models or the fuel line for 2001 and later models, ensuring to unlock the quick-connect fittings if applicable. For 2007 and later models, remove the upper intake manifold, pinch the tabs on the fuel inlet tube connector to disconnect it, and set the fuel injector wire harness aside. For all models, remove the fuel rail mounting bolts and then the fuel rail with the fuel injectors attached, carefully pulling up while rocking back and forth to work the injectors out. Remove the fuel injector(s) from the fuel rail by simultaneously twisting and pulling, and set them aside in a clearly labeled storage container. If reusing the same injectors, replace the grommets and O-rings, discarding the old ones if reinstalling the original injectors. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal, ensuring spacers are in place between the intake manifold and the fuel rails, and tighten the fuel rail mounting bolts.
