Remove the through-bolts that secure the starter motor to the gear reduction assembly. Separate the motor from the gear reduction and solenoid assembly, then remove the solenoid from the gear reduction assembly, noting the return spring protruding from the solenoid assembly, ensuring this spring is installed before reassembling the solenoid and the gear reduction assembly.
