How to remove and install the starter motor on Toyota Sienna?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. For 2006 and earlier models, remove the battery and battery tray from the engine compartment, disconnect and remove the cruise control actuator if equipped, and disconnect the transaxle shift control cable. Detach the electrical connectors from the starter/solenoid assembly, remove the starter motor mounting bolts, and take off the bracket from the upper section of the starter/solenoid assembly, noting that it may be necessary to loosen one or two of the bracket bolts to allow the starter/solenoid assembly to partially drop down for access to the remaining bracket assembly bolts and hardware. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2007 and later models, remove the battery, the air filter housing assembly, the air inlet tubes, and the filter housing support bracket. Disconnect the wiring from the starter, remove the mounting bolts, and lift out the starter. Installation is the reverse of removal.
