How to remove the steering wheel on a Toyota Sienna?

To remove the steering wheel, start by turning the ignition key off and disconnecting the negative and positive cables from the battery. Next, wait for at least two minutes before proceeding, turn the steering wheel so that the wheels are pointing straight ahead. Then, pry off the small covers on either side of the steering wheel and loosen the Torx screws securing the airbag module. Pull the airbag module off and disconnect its electrical connector. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut, mark the relationship between the steering shaft and the hub, and use a puller to disconnect the steering wheel from the shaft. For installation, ensure the front wheels are facing straight ahead, turn the spiral cable counterclockwise, rotate it clockwise, and align the red pointers. Install and tighten the nut. Plug the horn in and cruise control connectors, and the airbag module connector. Install and tighten the Torx screws for the airbag module. Finally, connect the battery cables, starting with the positive cable and ending with the negative cable.

Toyota Sienna Steering Wheel

The main advantage of the Toyota Sienna Steering Wheel is that it translates small movements of the driver's hands into precise changes in the direction of the tire. This offers the driver much more confident control of the tire. The circular, wear-resistant Steering Wheel has a rack and pinion gear that channels its rotation to the front wheels. Depending on the model year, it is boosted either by hydraulic power steering fluid or later by electric motors to ease effort for family van chores. Across the generations of the minivan, the Steering Wheel that was originally applied was the thicker urethane wrapped version, which also had some audio buttons. The recent trims use the sleeker multi-functional Steering Wheel that uses cruise and phone controls while also retaining the same 360-degree grip shape. A worn or vibrating Steering Wheel, irrespective of trim, shows loss of control and should be replaced as soon as possible. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut, mark the relationship between the steering shaft and the hub, and use a puller to disconnect the steering wheel from the shaft.
