Toyota Solara Alternator Brush

The Toyota Solara Alternator Brush helps to maintain stable electrical contact between the rotor slip rings and charging circuits, thereby ensuring reliable current supply to the coupe or convertible. The small carbon block found in a Toyota alternator is located at the rear of the aluminum alternator housing near the rectifier and regulator. It rides on the spinning rings and feeds field current that enables the rotor to build up a magnetic field, which in turn enables the stator to generate the power that recharges the battery and runs the lights, audio, and controls. A worn-out Alternator Brush shortens with mileage. When this contact weakens, it will dim your lamps or drain your battery. In the earlier versions of the Solara, there was a simple two-brush holder that was either matched with an external regulator or an internal regulator. However, in recent times, they started integrating the Alternator Brush leads with a regulator that is monitored by the PCM. Chiefly importantly, the two layouts perform the same job and are easy to swap out. Replacing the Alternator Brush is an easy job performed with basic tools and will take about two hours. However, it is an inexpensive way to restore output. In addition, a new Alternator Brush could substantially increase alternator life in any dependable Toyota Solara on the road.
