The Park/Neutral switch is incorporated in the transmission position switch, along with the backup light switch while at the same time sending transmission gear position information to the PCM. This function does not allow the engine to start while the shifter lever is in any position other than the Park or the Neutral and should the engine engage while the shifter lever is in any other position, the switch must require adjustment. Further, switch B is an information sensor for the Electronic Controlled Transaxle ECU and the voltage is outputted when positioning the shift lever. For the switch replacement, turn the vehicle upward using jackstands, then you will have to disconnect the electrical connector of the switch, also you will need to remove the lock plate and the nut for the manual lever, in case the lock plate has tabs you need to flatten them. Then, the switch retaining bolts have to be pulled out, and then the manual lever must be disconnected, as well as the switch itself. Installation is done in the reverse order to removal but with a required adjustment of the switch. For adjustment they have to remove the switch retaining bolts and turn the switch counterclockwise until one of them fits into the groove of the shaft, the switch has to be held with hands and switch retaining bolts to be tightened, there is a pointer on the sheetmetal lock plate to confirm the position of the neutral basic line of the switch.
