The first step is to take off the components you wish to remove then, take out the negative cable of the battery. In the continuation, remove the intake duct and the chamber; make sure that the number one piston is on the compression stroke before removing the distributor. Loosen the throttle linkage bracket by unbolting it and after that undo the bolt of engine removal hook and eliminate the bolt of the power steering pipe bracket moreover, the extra bolt on the
Cylinder Head cover can also be removed. Pull off the
Timing Belt covers, timing belt, the sprockets of the camshaft and finally the valve covers. Tighten the camshaft housing nuts and bolts slowly in the mentioned sequence as if they are tightened, they can warp and then measure the camshaft end play with a dial indicator. When the camshaft housing rear cover has been successfully removed, equally unbolt the camshaft from the housing but ensure this does not harm the bearings. Remove the rocker arms from the lash adjusters with the help of a soft impact and keep them neatly for refitting. For visually inspect the camshaft and rocker arms damage or wear, measure the cam lobe height and journal diameter micrometer and checking housing bore measurement to decide the bearing oil clearance. Change the lash adjuster plunger stroke and bleed the lash adjusters using light oil, if any of the lash adjusters is worn out. For camshaft housing, check for the warpage using a straight edge and a feeler gauge; if it is warped, replace it. For installation they use the camshaft installation grease on the lobes and journals, insert the camshaft into the housings, new O-rings and rear end covers must be installed and the match holes aligned. After that, clean the contact surfaces on the camshaft housing and the cylinder head, and fit a new gasket, and after that torque the nuts and bolts gradually in two passes to the particular torque.
