Remove the door trim panel and service hole cover, then take out the door window glass. Reach in through the door service hole to disconnect the control link from the lock by popping off the nylon clips that secure the connecting rods to the handle and lock cylinder, and then disconnect the rods. Remove the door lock retaining screws from inside the door and take out the door lock along with the solenoid if equipped. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal. When connecting the outside door handle control link to the lock on 1982 through 1986 models, raise the link by 0.020 to 0.039 inch and insert the pin into the lock hole by turning the adjuster. Disconnect the control link and electrical connector from the lock cylinder, then remove the bolt that retains the lock cylinder to the lock, with installation being the reverse of removal. Remove the retaining screw(s) for the handle, rotate it away, and detach it from the door, with installation again being the reverse of removal.
