Disconnect the negative battery cable. For 1982 and 1983 models, remove the steering wheel trim plate by pulling out on the bottom portion; for all other models, first remove the single retaining screw located at the bottom of the plate. Next, remove the steering wheel nut and mark the relationship of the steering wheel hub to the shaft to ensure correct positioning upon reinstallation. Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel, avoiding any hammering on the shaft. To install the steering wheel, reverse the removal procedure, ensuring the match marks from the previous step are aligned. Finally, install the nut and tighten it to the specified torque, then install the steering wheel trim plate and reconnect the negative battery cable.
