The brake light switch is located at the top of the brake pedal assembly and can be accessed by removing the trim panel beneath the steering column. It is responsible for opening and closing the brake light circuit, allowing current to flow to the brake lights when the pedal is pushed. If the brake lights do not work, check the fuse and bulbs. If those work, check that voltage is available at the switch. If there is not, there may be an open circuit between the fuse block and the switch and if there is but the lights do not work, there is an open circuit. When searching for it, check in between the switch and the light. To replace, begin by removing the trim panel below the steering column. Disengage the electrical connector, remove the locknut, then remove the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal, adjusting the switch afterward.
