Before lifting the hood, disconnect the cable from the battery's negative terminal. Also switch off the lockout feature when your car has an anti-theft audio system. Disable the airbag system. Take off the parts covering your steering wheel and steering column. Remove the electrical wire from the spot where the turn signal and light controls meet. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the switch terminals: When you steer, see if moving the turn signal stalk does not connect any terminals. See if touching the buttons in a straight movement connects terminals 3 and 9 when turning left or connects terminals 3 and 8 when going right. If the switch doesn't operate, replace it.
