Toyota T100 Suspension Strut Rod

The Toyota T100 Suspension Strut Rod is the main link between the frame and the wheel assembly. This allows each wheel of the Toyota T100 to pivot up and down over bumps while supporting the shocks, springs, and sway bars. The Suspension Strut Rod features bushings on the frame side and an additional bushing or ball joint on the knuckle or axle side, which damps vibrations and maintains alignment. Several styles of the Suspension Strut Rod are utilized on the T100, with all variations being distinguished by their overall shape and construction. Versions constructed from stamped steel, cast iron, and cast aluminum are specified, with the last of those providing a strong but light structure. While created for long service, the Suspension Strut Rod may need replacing when stamped steel weakens due to heavy rust or if the part bends or distorts from a heavy impact. These issues are not just due to routine bushing or joint wear. Maintaining an intact Suspension Strut Rod supports predictable handling and ride comfort in every Toyota T100, contributing to the dependable operation expected from Toyota vehicles.

Toyota T100 Suspension Strut Rod Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Install the Suspension Strut Rod on Toyota T100?
    A:
Crawl under to ease off the wheel nuts and put your car jack under the front, secure it with stands, engage the brake, and pull the wheel off. Next, remove the engine under cover. Mark where the stand and nut attach to the strut bar before taking off so we can put everything back into exactly the same position. Starting with the front of the strut bar, take off the bolt, washer, the retaining part, and the rubber bushing. Twist off the two nuts holding the lower Control Arm to the rear of the strut bar, then detach the whole bar from the arm. Take off the collar, the excess rubber bushing, and retainer from the strut bar. Look at the metal bushing, washers, and rubber bushings to see if they have any wear or damage. Put new ones in if needed. Just like removal, installation goes in reverse too - but carefully put back the retainers, rubber bushings, and metal bushing as ordered. If you need a new strut bar, adjust its length to the right size by tightening the rear nut.
