Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician. Remove the grille. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C accumulator and cap the open fittings to prevent entry of moisture. After the system has been discharged, detach the refrigerant lines from the top of the A/C accumulator and cap them. To access the back-up nuts on the A/C accumulator, remove the
Coolant Reservoir and locate the bracket with the mounting nuts. Loosen the pinch bolt or bracket mounting bolts, whichever is easier to get a wrench on, and remove the A/C accumulator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. If the A/C accumulator was replaced, have them add about 0.34 ounces of refrigerant oil to the system. Use only the refrigerant oil compatible with the refrigerant of your system (R-134a).
