To begin the air conditioning system repair, take the vehicle to a shop to have the system discharged and the refrigerant properly recovered. Remove the drive belt and
Cooling Fan Assembly, then loosen the left front wheel lug nuts and raise the front of the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the engine splash shield, left front wheel, and inner fender splash shield. For Four-Cylinder models, detach the electrical connector and disconnect the refrigerant lines. Unbolt the A/C Compressor and guide it out from under the vehicle. For V6 models, remove the engine cover and alternator. Follow the reverse order of removal steps during installation, replacing any 0-rings with new ones suitable for the refrigerant type and lubricating them with refrigerant oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop.
