To begin, remove the shift knob by turning it counterclockwise. For bench seat types, pull the cup holder and rubber mats from the console, then take out the mounting fasteners, including a plastic fastener on the side. Next, pull the console toward the rear of the vehicle to disengage the clips from the lower instrument panel trim and remove the console. For separate seat types with a rear box, on models with an automatic transmission, pry the trim bezel from around the shifter and remove it, then pry the cup holder panel from in front of the shifter and remove it. For manual transmission models, pry the drink tray panel from the console and remove it. Remove the two exposed screws that attach the rear part of the console to the front, then take out the carpet from the bottom of the console box and remove the two exposed bolts. After that, remove the rear section of the console and the two mounting screws at the rear part of the front console, located behind the shifter. Finally, pull the front part of the console toward the rear of the vehicle to disengage the clips from the lower instrument panel trim and remove the console. Installation is the reverse of removal.
