Before working on Tacoma, disconnect the battery cable from its negative terminal and switch off any anti-theft audio lockout features first. To start, disconnect the battery cable, shut down the airbags, detach the steering wheel, and take away the steering column panels. Take off the power connection from the switch that controls signals and headlights. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the switch terminals: When the light control switch is in OFF, you shouldn't detect electrical flow between any contacts. Only when the switch is in TAIL should it pass electricity between terminals 14 and 16, while terminals 13, 14, and 16 will link when the switch is in HEAD. Low beam on the headlight dimmer switch sees conductivity between terminals 16 and 17, High beam through terminal 7 and terminal 16, and If the switch does not operate, replace it. Disconnect the switch from its frame, then put it back together from reverse order of removal. Before mounting the steering wheel, carefully realign the cable spiral.
