On some models, it may be necessary to remove the grille. Mark the edge of the latch in relationship to the radiator support before unbolting it. Unbolt the latch, and to detach the hood latch, remove the retaining bolts. Detach the cable from the latch assembly by flipping the latch over and prying the end of the cable out. If replacing the latch, installation is the reverse of removal; to adjust the latch, loosen the bolts slightly and move it as necessary, then tighten the bolts securely. If replacing the Hood Cable, trace it back toward the firewall and detach all cable brackets and clips in the engine compartment. Working in the passenger compartment, remove the left lower finish panel and detach the hood lever from the instrument panel by lifting the release lever and removing the retaining screws. Detach the hood lever from the cable, then attach a piece of string or thin wire to the end of the cable and pull the cable and grommet into the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of removal.
