- Q: How to Remove and Refit a Car Mirror and Mirror Switch on a Toyota Yaris?A:To sedemn the mirror, the first step is to have to take off a door trim panel and then to unclip the triangular one installed inside the base of the mirror. For electric mirrors, first, remove the mirror wiring plug. Subsequently, take out the three mirror mounting nuts as the last nut is being unscrewed and the mirror comes out together with any wires that might be connected. For refitting reverse the procedures pay especial attention to the condition of the mirror to body gasket as water may get in, make sure the mounting nuts to the mirror are correctly tightened to the recommended torque setting, replace door trim panel. Motor is mounted onto the mirror and it cannot be repaired individually; if the motor is problematic, the mirror as well has to be replaced. In order to get the mirror switch out of the car, firstly, using a piece of plastic strip or stick you locate and push the mirror switch door panel off the facia trying not to damage it because it is very fragile then you would unlock the wiring plug of the switch and take the switch out.
