Scion 16400-21070 Radiator Assembly

When removing the radiator, it is important to note that minor leaks can often be fixed with a radiator sealant without having to remove the radiator. To remove the radiator, start by draining the cooling system and jacking up the front of the car. Remove the engine lower cover panels and disconnect the cooling fan wiring connector and harness. Disconnect the upper and lower hoses from the radiator, and if applicable, disconnect the transmission fluid hoses. Unbolt and lift away the front panel (lock carrier) to access the radiator. Lift the radiator out, being careful not to damage the Cooling Fan Assembly or air conditioning condenser. Remove the side cover and, if necessary, the cooling fan and shroud. Inspect the radiator for blockages and clean the fins. If needed, have a radiator specialist perform a flow test. Leaking radiators should be referred to a specialist for repair. When refitting, ensure all hoses are correctly connected and secure, reconnect the radiator fan wiring, and refill the cooling system. For models with automatic transmission, check and top up the fluid level if necessary.
