These models come equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), or airbag, that is intended to defend the driver and front seat passenger in a head-on crash. One module is installed in the steering wheel and another one in the instrument panel; some vehicles have sidewinders and curtain shield airbags for the side blow and a sensing/ diagnostic module is situated under the instrument panel.
