To replace the alternator, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the Car Batteries, ensuring to check for an anti-theft system activation code for the stereo if applicable. Proceed to detach the electrical connectors from the alternator and loosen the alternator adjustment, pivot, and lock bolts to remove the drive belt. Remove the adjustment and lock bolts from the alternator adjustment bracket and separate the alternator and bracket from the engine. If replacing the alternator, bring the old one while purchasing the replacement to ensure they match in terminals, size, and locations, and verify identification markings to be the same on both units. Note that some new/rebuilt alternators might not have a pulley installed, so you may need to switch it from the old unit. Check with the shop for their policy regarding pulley installation. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal. After installing the alternator, adjust the drive belt tension and check the charging voltage to ensure proper operation.
