If you are working on the front of the vehicle, loosen the wheel lug nuts on the side to be disassembled, jack up the front of the vehicle, support it safely with jackstands, and remove the wheel. A transverse engine mount must also be removed at the subframe, but the way is made difficult by the need for an engine lifting hoist or support fixture as you must access the subframe bolts hidden behind the front of the engine, the engine mount access location. Using a prybar, separate the control arm from the balljoint and remove the balljoint retaining bolt and nuts to detach the control arm from the balljoint. To remove the control arm, first take out the two bolts holding the front of the control arm to the engine cradle, then the bolt and nut retaining the rear of the control arm to the engine cradle. After the control arm is removed, make sure it is straight - if it has any bends replace it as it would not matter to try to make it straight. Check the bushings and replace the control arm if cracked, torn or worn. In reverse of removal, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to torque specifications. Reinstall wheel and lug nuts, lower the car back down to the ground, and torque lug nuts to spec. After that, you should check the front wheel alignment and adjust if necessary.
