Remove the battery hold-down clamp by detaching the negative and positive cables, then removing the hold-down strap bolt and nut along with the strap, and carefully lift the battery out of the engine compartment, taking care as it is heavy. While the battery is out, inspect the carrier (tray) for corrosion. If replacing the battery, ensure that the new one is identical in dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, and other specifications. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

Starting with the negative battery terminal, disconnect both cables from the battery terminals. If the stereo in your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery. Remove the battery hold-down clamp. To remove the battery, detach the negative and positive cables, remove the hold-down strap nuts and hold-down strap, then carefully lift the battery out. Lift out the battery, but be careful as it's heavy. While the battery is out, inspect the carrier (tray) for corrosion. If you are replacing the battery, make sure to get one that's identical, with the same dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The electrolyte contains poisonous and corrosive sulfuric acid, so you should avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothes, and never ingest it. It is recommended to wear protective safety glasses when working near the battery and keep children away.
