Toyota 13568-79225 Belt, Timing

1. Install the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets and the crankshaft inner belt guide. 2. Recheck the camshaft and crankshaft timing marks for proper alignment. 3. Install the timing belt on the crankshaft, oil pump, water pump, and idler pulleys. 4. Slip the belt guide onto the crankshaft with the cupped side facing out. 5. Slip the timing belt over the camshaft pulley(s) while keeping tension on the side nearest the front of the vehicle. 6. Loosen the upper idler pulley bolt to allow the spring to apply pressure to the idler pulley. 7. Slowly turn the crankshaft clockwise two complete revolutions. 8. Tighten the idler pulley mounting bolt to the specified torque. 9. Recheck the timing marks and ensure they are aligned correctly. 10. Reinstall the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal. 11. Run the engine and check for proper operation.

The coolant overflow tank, spark plugs, drive belts, alternator, engine mount, and engine support rod are removed to access the timing belt and related components.

Remove the drive belts from the alternator and power steering pump.

Before removing the lower timing belt cover, you should remove the upper timing belt cover and gasket, ensuring that the wiring harness is unclipped and pushed back.
