Taking off the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, follow steps to open and reduce the center console to access the shifter assembly. If the shifter has been aligned properly, make a mental or written note of the location of the rod's rear bolt before it is unscrewed. A structural change is made to the clevis by unbolt the front cotter pin and pulling the clevis out and unbolt the adjusting bolt and nut at the rear. To remove or install, reverse the above mentioned procedures, and to adjust the shifter, loosen the rear bolt while the transmission lever and the shifter lever should be in Neutral, then slowly tighten the adjusting bolt.
