During Avalon fuel door and trunk release cable work, you must take apart and put back both cables at the same time. Begin by removing the trunk latch. To get to the Fuel Door Release Cable end, pull the left-side panel and floor mat inside the trunk. Push and turn the tabs on the Fuel Door Release Cable end to unlock it from the fuel door housing. Then pull it straight until it releases. To free the cable end retainer, you need to twist it out of its bracket. First, get rid of the rear seat bottom. For coupes, you'll have to eliminate both seat back and bottom at the same time.
