To remove and install the A/C Compressor in a vehicle, follow these steps. Firstly, have the refrigerant discharged by an automotive air conditioning technician. Then, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the auxiliary 12-volt battery, ensuring you perform the necessary initialization procedure when reconnecting it. For all models, start by disconnecting the refrigerant lines from the compressor and securely capping the ends to prevent contamination. Next, release the green lock tab and disconnect the compressor wiring harness, detaching the clamps and freeing the wiring harness. Unbolt the compressor and carefully remove it from the vehicle. When installing the new compressor, make sure to replace any O-rings with new ones specifically designed for refrigerant and lubricate them with the appropriate oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and thoroughly leak tested to ensure proper functioning.
