- A:To remove and install the EGR valve and EGR valve cooler, follow these steps. First, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the engine cover and drain the cooling system. For the EGR valve, disconnect the coolant hoses near the valve and the electrical connector. Remove the mounting bolts and nuts from the valve pipes, and retrieve the gaskets. Detach the pipes from the valve and clean all gasket mating surfaces. Install the valve using new gaskets and refill the cooling system. For the EGR valve cooler, remove the intake manifold and the coolant bypass pipe. Disconnect the hoses from the cooler and unscrew the mounting fasteners. Remove the cooler assembly and, if necessary, detach the pipe from the cooler.
