Toyota 19100-66020 Distributor Assembly

To remove the distributor, start by disconnecting the Battery Cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the electrical connectors from the distributor. Look for a raised "1" on the distributor cap or locate the number one spark plug and trace the wire back to the terminal on the cap. Remove the distributor cap and turn the engine over until the rotor is pointing towards the number one spark plug terminal. Make a mark on the distributor base below the rotor tip and mark the distributor base and engine block for correct installation. If equipped with collar bolts, loosen them. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and pull the distributor straight out. To install a new distributor, first, install a new O-ring onto the distributor housing. Align the drilled mark on the distributor gear facing up and insert the distributor into the engine in the same position as before. Check the alignment marks and rotor position. Install the distributor hold-down bolt and tighten it securely. Finally, check the ignition timing and tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
