Leave your engine to cool for at least three hours before starting any work. Before you work on the filter, put a metal container, rags, or newspapers under the filter to trap fuel spillage. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Lift your Tacoma and slide under to reach the fuel filter. Unscrew the black bolts from the tank ends of the filter, then disconnect both supply lines while remembering where they went. Lift out the bracket bolts to remove the old filter and let go of its support bracket. Before you detach the filter from its bracket, unscrew the clamp bolt and make sure to label where the inlet and outlet lines were connected. Be sure to have the filter's flanged end facing downwards when doing so. Put the new filter piece in place with the holder. Then, tighten the holder bolts firmly but check the flange goes down as required. Set up both the inlet and outlet connections by adding filter manufacturer-recommended seal washers to the banjo bolts. Then, tighten each bolt to the correct bolt torque spec. Once you've finished taking out the old filter, you start putting the new one back in place.

Make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery.
