The orientation of both headlights has to be accurate to prevent dazzling of other users on the road, and to obtain the correct illumination of the surface of the street. The aim should be checked once in a year or any time that a new headlight is fitted or some front-end body work has been done. It is a short-term adjustment that we should follow "using" until one can have a proper and correct adjustment by a doctor. Every headlight housing contains a vertically located adjusting screw for up-and-screw movement, and the second screw for horizontal adjustment where a plastic retainer is removed to access it. To perform the procedure of alignment of the headlights, one must have a white wall with a distance of 25 feet from the vehicle and a flat surface of the floor. In the field, the first marking composition, which goes vertically up the wall, should be put to correspond to the center of the vehicle, a vertical line passing through the center of the horizontal axis of each headlamp and a horizontal bar for reference. Fuel should be between one quarter and three quarter full, the vehicle's load should be moderate and its position should be level. For low beam adjustment, the high intensity zone should be located 2in below the base of the torsion and 2in to the side from oncoming traffic. Aiming high beams should be a little below the horizontal line of the high-intensity zone. The low beams are more critical than the high beams and may not be possible to align at their best; hence, the need to prioritize aligning low beams. These adjustments should be done by a dealer's service department, or a service station, as soon as possible.

Remove the radiator grille and the front bumper cover. To detach the small trim panel below the headlight housing, remove the Phillips head cap screw and washer at the inner end of the trim piece, then pull off the trim panel. To remove the headlight housing, take out the mounting bolts. Note how the tab in the center of the trim piece fits into a slot on the underside of the headlight housing, and how a slot on the outer end of the trim engages a tab on the front fender. Inspect the condition of the screw and clip; if they are damaged, replace them. Remove the headlight housing mounting bolts, pull out the headlight housing, and disconnect the electrical connectors from the bulbs. Installation is the reverse of removal, and when finished, check the headlight adjustment.
