To remove and install a hood, start by marking the bolt heads for alignment. Use blankets or pads to protect the body and paint. Disconnect any interfering cables or wires and have an assistant support the hood. Remove the hinge-to-hood screws or bolts and lift off the hood. For adjustment, move the hinge plate slot using the scribed line as a reference. Loosen the bolts or nuts, align the hood, and tighten the hinge bolts or nuts. Lower the hood to check the position and make further adjustments if needed. Adjust the hood latch assembly up-and-down and from side-to-side on the radiator support. Scribe a line around the hood latch mounting bolts, loosen them, and reposition the latch assembly. Retighten the mounting bolts after adjustment. Adjust the hood bumpers on the radiator support for a flush closure. Loosen the locking nut and adjust the screw. Adjust the rear of the hood vertically by adding or removing washers from the hinge. Lubricate the hood latch assembly and hinges with white, lithium-base grease periodically to prevent binding and wear.
